HOW TO USE A+ SPELLING TEST?

1. Create a test
1.1. Choose the list name
1.2. Add words - words are immediately checked for spelling to avoid mistakes
1.3. For each word you add, record your own audio - a kids favorite

2. Take a test
2.1. Listen to the word you need to spell - words appear in random order
2.2. Write the word and click next
2.3. Instantly see if you got it right or wrong

3. Review test scores
3.1 Each time you take a test, you see a detailed report with all the words you got right and wrong.
3.2 Next to each word, you see a green (correct) or red (wrong) indicator so you can quickly see what words kids tend to struggle with repeatedly.
3.3 Next to each Spelling List you see the test results of the last test they took

ADVANCED OPTIONS

Ace it - Instead of taking a regular test, when you click to "Ace it" you have to keep repeating words until you spell them correctly. Since feedback and repetition is the best way to learn, your kids will improve even faster and enjoy it because by the end they will have aced every test!

Practice - The practice mode does not track your score and offers a quick preview of each word when needed with just one click. Its a fun and easy way to get familiar with especially challenging new words.

Unscramble - The unscramble mode activates and develops a completely different part of your brain. Instead of instantly hearing the word and having to spell it, you see a scramble of letters and have to figure out what word they are for. Its fun and another great way to sharpen your kids spelling skills

Review mistakes - With each test you took, you can choose to quickly just retest any / all mistakes. In addition, on the main page, you can always click to review all the words that were misspelled on their last attempt.

Enhanced email submission - Cant remember your kids teachers email? No problem. Enter it only once on the settings page and each time you click to email out the test, the teachers email address will be pre-filled in the TO field.

A+ Spelling Test PRO app good for

This is a great app that allows you to enter in your childs spelling lists every week. In addition you get to record your voice saying the word and there is enough time for a quick sentence using the word. This is especially helpful if this is how the teacher does the test. Great practice rounds and there is even a feature that allows them to keep practicing the words they missed without redoing the whole list. The test mode also show the words they missed and how they spelled it. The bonus is if you have your child say the sentences for the words, you have a great recoding if their voice at that time. We have been using this app for two years and it is great to pull up the lists from the first year and hear my childs voice and sentences from last year. Highly highly recommend.

Highly recommended. This makes learning spelling fun and easy. PS: I have always received great support and everything is working well.

Simple, but very useful app for a wide variety of kids. I like the fact that the word lists are customized by you for the student. the Scrambled word exercise was just what I needed for a high school student with autism who enjoys this kind of challenge. Another great app from the folks at Alligator. Thanks!

Some bad moments

I got this app so I could track my daughters hearing issues with her audiologist. I wanted to be able to email all her test results. I have purchased the pro edition, and continue to be kicked out of the app every time I try to use the email, it also resets everything. All my daughters test score are gone. I was going to recommend this app to the school I work for but I think its a joke. Not to mention the wont respond to my emails for support.

Cannot get into the settings with the 3 finger tap on two separate devices.

I used to love this app until the online backup feature quit working. And after scouring the internet to find NO way of contacting the developer, I decided to do a review. I will be happy to give this app 5 stars if they fix the problem AND provide support. This is a paid app!!

This was a great app at the beginning but no longer can see online so not very useful. I only give it one star

This is definitely not the best spelling app. Other apps have many other games to teach spelling words. It allows you to create your spelling list fairly easy (I did not try to import a list). You can practice (it shows you the wrong answer as soon as you have it wrong), unscramble, and test.

I just tried it today and it is very straight forward and easy to use. It will come in handy for a number of my students at various ages and abilities.
